Flannels is the UK’s largest independent luxury retail group specialising in contemporary mens and womenswear, designer fashion, footwear and accessories. ‘Spinningfields’ in Manchester City Centre was chosen for the site of their new ‘flagship’ department store.
We were contracted with the task of sanding & finishing the solid oak herringbone parquet floor and stair case.
At 1500 square meters over two floors the site was large and when we commenced works areas of flooring were still to be laid, however we were confident that using the most up to date machinery and sanding processes we could complete works within the allotted time.
The product specification was ‘Junckers’ Prelak followed by 2 coats of HP Commercial (high gloss)
Although the wood was unfinished and newly laid, traditional sanding methods were not efficient enough to achieve the desired finish in set time constraints, however using the new ‘Octi-Disc’ technology, including sand paper-less sanding processes, were able to achieve the brief well within the deadlines set. The stairs were sanded with variations on the ‘Octi-Disc’ system proving that there are many applications for these new technologies.
Using the reliable ‘Junckers’ products created a striking and durable finish to the floor, receiving excellent feedback from the main contractor and client. We are delighted with what was achieved within the time constraints.
This project helped ‘M60 Flooring Ltd’ to totally embrace the new ‘Octi-Disc’ approach to commercial floor sanding.
